Product Overview
The Shangli YB3 high-voltage series is a compact, flameproof three-phase squirrel-cage induction motor range for hazardous-area industrial drives. Typical driven equipment includes compressors, pumps, crushers, cutting machinery and material-handling systems.
The catalog specifies rated voltages of 6 kV or 10 kV at 50 Hz, with IC411 cooling, Class F insulation and S1 continuous duty. The standard mounting arrangement is horizontal IM B3. Motor enclosure and terminal box protection are listed as IP54, with IP55 available by specification.
Separate configurations are described for mining applications and industrial explosive gas atmospheres. The required protection marking, certificate scope and operating conditions must be confirmed for the selected motor.
Key Features
- High-voltage flameproof construction: designed for applications requiring an appropriately specified explosion-protected motor.
- Compact ribbed frame: cooling ribs on the frame and end shields support heat dissipation.
- Class F insulation with VPI treatment: form-wound stator coils are vacuum pressure impregnated to support electrical insulation, mechanical integrity and moisture resistance.
- Dynamically balanced squirrel-cage rotor: designed to support smooth operation.
- IC411 cooling: totally enclosed fan cooling with a shaft-driven fan.
- Configurable bearing arrangements: rolling-element or sleeve bearings according to frame size, speed and application.
- Optional monitoring: bearing temperature sensors, stator temperature sensors and anti-condensation heaters can be specified for technical review.

Explosion-Protection Configurations
The catalog lists the following protection markings as configuration options. They are not a combined marking applicable to every motor.
| Catalog Marking | Configuration |
|---|---|
| Ex d I Mb | Group I mining configuration. The catalog describes underground coal-mine applications away from the working face, subject to the applicable mining approvals and operating restrictions. |
| Ex d IIA T4 Gb | Industrial gas configuration for the specified IIA gas-group and T4 requirements. |
| Ex d IIB T4 Gb | Industrial gas configuration for the specified IIB gas-group and T4 requirements. |
| Ex d IIC T4 Gb | Industrial gas configuration for the specified IIC gas-group and T4 requirements. |
Industrial gas versions may be selected for Zone 1 or Zone 2 applications when the actual certificate, gas group, temperature class and installation conditions satisfy the site requirements. This zone description does not replace the separate requirements for Group I mining equipment.
Confirm destination-country approval requirements before ordering. The catalog markings alone do not establish ATEX, IECEx or other market-specific certification. Gas protection and IP ratings also do not establish approval for industrial combustible dust atmospheres.
Stator and Rotor Construction
The stator uses form-wound coils made from insulated rectangular copper conductors. Main insulation wrapping and whole-winding VPI treatment support dielectric performance, mechanical strength, moisture resistance and thermal stability.
The squirrel-cage rotor is dynamically balanced. The frame and end shields incorporate cooling ribs, combining a compact construction with external heat-dissipation surfaces.
The high-voltage terminal box provides space for cable termination. Cable-entry arrangements, termination details and terminal box position must be confirmed against the installation drawing.
Bearing Arrangements and Lubrication
Bearing construction is selected according to motor output and speed. The catalog identifies the following arrangements:
| Configuration Described | Bearing Arrangement |
|---|---|
| Frames 355–560, 4-, 6- and 8-pole versions | Rolling-element bearings |
| Frames 500–560, 2-pole versions | Sleeve bearings |
These entries describe bearing arrangements, not a complete series availability table. Other frame and pole combinations require model-specific confirmation.
Rolling-bearing versions include grease replenishment and discharge provisions. Sleeve-bearing versions may use pressure-fed lubrication, oil-ring lubrication or a combined arrangement. The catalog identifies pressure-fed lubrication as the default where no alternative is specified.
Confirm the lubrication system, auxiliary supply requirements and maintenance procedure for the selected motor. Any maintenance during operation must follow the approved instructions and site hazardous-area safety procedures.
Optional Monitoring and Heating
- Bearing temperature sensors or monitoring instruments.
- Stator winding temperature sensors or monitoring instruments.
- Anti-condensation heaters.
Specify the required sensor type, signal interface and heater supply voltage during technical clarification. Accessories and their connections must be compatible with the motor's certified construction.
Environmental Variants
| Suffix | Catalog Description |
|---|---|
| W | Outdoor version |
| TH | Indoor humid-tropical version |
| THW | Outdoor humid-tropical version |
| TA | Indoor dry-tropical version |
| TAW | Outdoor dry-tropical version |
| T | Indoor tropical version |
| TW | Outdoor tropical version |
| WF1 | Outdoor version for moderately corrosive environments |
Environmental variants do not automatically extend the certified ambient temperature range or hazardous-area approval. Confirm the complete ordering code and permitted conditions for the application.
Model Designation
The catalog illustrates the designation YB3-450S2-2W.
| Code | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Y | Induction motor |
| B | Flameproof design |
| 3 | Design series identifier |
| 450 | Shaft centre height of 450 mm |
| S | Short-frame designation |
| 2 after S | Core-length code |
| 2 after the hyphen | Two-pole motor |
| W | Outdoor configuration |
This illustration explains the designation structure. It does not specify the rated output, bearing arrangement or certificate scope of an orderable motor. The number 3 in YB3 is not an IE3 efficiency declaration.
Typical Applications
The series can be considered for compressors, pumps, crushers, cutting machinery and material-handling equipment in petrochemical plants, mining operations, power facilities and other industrial installations.
Selection depends on the actual hazardous-area classification, required protection configuration, driven-load characteristics and applicable approvals, rather than the industry name alone.

- Required output in kW and rated speed or pole count.
- Supply voltage: 6 kV or 10 kV, and frequency.
- Required gas or mining protection marking.
- Hazardous-area classification and applicable certificate requirements.
- Driven equipment, load inertia and torque-speed characteristics.
- Starting method, acceleration requirements and starting frequency.
- Ambient temperature, altitude and environmental exposure.
- Mounting dimensions, coupling details and terminal box requirements.

Send these details to our Huzhou team for technical clarification and quotation. For replacement enquiries, include the existing motor's nameplate, protection marking, dimensional drawing and operating information.
If inverter operation is required, request a separately confirmed motor-drive specification and the relevant explosion-protection assessment. The standard 50 Hz description does not establish unrestricted variable-frequency operation.
