Start with the Motor and Its Intended Use
The right documentation depends on the motor, installation environment, destination market and project specification. A general-purpose motor enquiry may require different documents from a motor intended for an explosive gas or combustible dust atmosphere.
Before requesting certificates, identify the complete motor model, electrical ratings, required protection marking and delivery destination. Then ask for documents that apply to that configuration.
Different Documents Answer Different Questions
| Document | Main Purpose | What to Check |
|---|---|---|
| ATEX Documentation | Documents relevant to conformity under the EU ATEX equipment framework | Applicable certificate and annexes, EU Declaration of Conformity, product marking and instructions |
| IECEx Certificate of Conformity | Certification of specified explosion-protected equipment under the IECEx scheme | Certificate status, latest issue, covered models, manufacturing locations and conditions |
| CCC Certificate | China Compulsory Certification for covered products | Main certificate, model appendix, ratings, manufacturer and production factory |
| Chinese Explosion-Protection Certificate | Conformity of specified equipment with the explosion-protection standards identified in the document | Exact model coverage, Ex marking, referenced standards and special conditions |
| Energy-Efficiency Documents | Evidence of the stated efficiency certification, registration or test results | Scheme, standard, model, rating and declared efficiency class or grade |
| ISO Management System Certificates | Certification of an organization’s management system within a defined scope | Certified legal entity, sites, activities, standard and certificate status |
| Motor Test Report | Results of the tests identified in the report | Motor identification, test method, conditions, measured results and report date |
ATEX and IECEx: Request the Complete Applicable Documents
ATEX Documentation

Where the applicable ATEX conformity assessment requires an EU-type examination certificate, request the complete certificate with its schedule or annexes. Also request the relevant EU Declaration of Conformity and instructions, and confirm the production-conformity documentation applicable to the equipment.
An EU-type examination certificate is not, by itself, the complete documentation package for supplying the motor. Check that the documents identify the configuration being offered.
IECEx Documentation
An IECEx Test Report, commonly called an ExTR, is not the same document as an IECEx Certificate of Conformity. Similarly, an ExTR summary should not be presented as the certificate itself.
When IECEx certification is required, request the relevant Certificate of Conformity and check its current status and latest issue in the official IECEx online system. Review the covered models, manufacturing locations, protection markings and any conditions.
ATEX and IECEx are separate frameworks. Do not assume that possession of one automatically establishes compliance with the other.
CCC, CQC and CVC: Read the Document Title
CCC means China Compulsory Certification. CQC and CVC identify certification organizations or brands; their names alone do not tell you which certification scheme a document represents.
For example, a document headed “Product Certificate” and one headed “China Energy-Saving Product Certificate” should not be treated as identical. Read the certificate title, referenced standards, certification rules and approved scope.
If a model list is provided as an appendix, request the corresponding main certificate as well. An appendix can identify covered variants, but it may not show the holder, validity conditions or full certification category.
Energy Certification, Registration and Efficiency Ratings
An energy-saving product certificate, a China Energy Label registration record and a measured efficiency test report are different types of evidence. Ask which document supports the efficiency requirement in your project specification.
Check the exact model, rated power, pole count, voltage, frequency and applicable standard. A series name containing a number does not independently establish an IE efficiency class or a national energy-efficiency grade.
Where a project specifies an IE class, request documentation supporting that requirement for the selected motor. Do not assume that a registration confirmation without efficiency values provides the same information.
What ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Mean
ISO 9001: quality management systems.
ISO 14001: environmental management systems.
ISO 45001: occupational health and safety management systems.
These certificates concern the organization’s management systems within the stated scope. They are useful during supplier evaluation, but they are not individual motor performance certificates or explosion-protection approvals.
Check the company and location listed on each certificate. Certification of one group company or production site should not automatically be extended to another.
Six Checks Before Accepting a Certificate
Document identity: confirm the certificate number, issuing body and document type.
Product coverage: match the complete model and ratings to the main certificate and relevant appendix.
Company and factory: distinguish the applicant, manufacturer and production factory where these are listed separately.
Status and revision: check current status, applicable dates and the latest issue through the issuing body or official scheme database.
Conditions and exclusions: read schedules, annexes and referenced instructions. Where an Ex certificate has an “X” suffix, review the stated special conditions of use.
Order consistency: confirm that the quotation, technical data sheet, nameplate and certification documents describe the same proposed equipment.
Specify Test Reports Before Ordering
If your project requires routine test results, efficiency measurements, witnessed testing or other inspection records, include those requirements in the enquiry. Agree the test scope, acceptance criteria and required documents before the order is finalized.
A type-test report describing a representative design is not necessarily a test record for the individual motor delivered. Check the equipment identification and purpose of the report.
Request Documents for Your Selected Shangli Motor
The documents displayed in Shangli’s Quality & Certifications section are selected examples. They should not be interpreted as a single approval covering every product, configuration or factory.
When contacting us, include:
The complete motor model and electrical ratings.
The destination country and project specification.
The required hazardous-area classification and protection marking, where applicable.
The required efficiency standard and class or grade.
The certificates and test reports requested by the customer.
Send your requirements to [email protected] so our team can identify the documentation applicable to the proposed motor.
This guide supports document review and enquiries. Final acceptance must follow the destination-market requirements and the project’s technical specification.
