TYCP Series Variable-Speed Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

The TYCP series is a range of permanent magnet synchronous motors designed for operation with a compatible variable-frequency drive. Multiple power and rated-speed options support pump, fan, compressor and industrial machinery applications, including new equipment and assessed motor-system retrofits.
Product Details

Product Overview

The Shangli TYCP series comprises permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) designed for variable-speed industrial applications. A permanent magnet rotor works with a compatible variable-frequency drive (VFD) to deliver the speed and torque required by the driven equipment.

The series combines an efficiency-focused design with high power density and a choice of motor ratings. Applications include pumps, fans, compressors, machine tools, gear-driven equipment, packaging machinery, mining machinery and construction equipment.

TYCP motors are a separate product range from the TYCP3 motor with integrated drive. For TYCP installations, the compatible drive and its scope of supply should be specified separately.

Key Features

Permanent Magnet Rotor Design

Permanent magnets establish the rotor magnetic field, supporting an efficient, high-power-density motor design. Motor selection considers rated output, torque and mechanical dimensions together, helping equipment manufacturers match the drive to the available installation space.

Speed Control to Match Process Demand

With a compatible VFD, motor speed can be adjusted to suit changing operating requirements. This supports applications where flow, pressure or production rate varies, allowing speed control to form part of the equipment's overall operating strategy.

Multiple Power and Rated-Speed Options

The range includes motors rated at 3000, 1500, 1000 and 750 rpm. Each rated-speed group has its own power range and torque characteristics, providing options for different driven loads.

Options for OEM Equipment and Retrofits

Standard frame designations support mechanical integration. For replacement projects, shaft dimensions, mounting interfaces, couplings or pulleys and permitted equipment speed must be checked. An equal power rating alone does not establish interchangeability.

Technical Overview

TYCP Rated-Speed and Power Ranges
Rated Speed Rated Output Range Number of Poles Rated Motor Frequency Rated Motor Voltage
3000 rpm 1.5–315 kW 6 150 Hz 380 V
1500 rpm 0.55–315 kW 8 100 Hz 380 V
1000 rpm 0.55–250 kW 8 Approximately 66.7 Hz 380 V
750 rpm 0.55–250 kW 8 50 Hz 380 V

Motor frequency refers to the electrical frequency at the stated rated speed, not the incoming mains frequency of the VFD. These are separate motor ratings, not a guaranteed continuous constant-torque range of 750–3000 rpm for every motor. The permissible operating range and cooling arrangement depend on the selected model and duty.

Model Designation

Example: TYCP-80M-1.5-3000

Code Meaning
TYCP Variable-speed permanent magnet synchronous motor series
80M Motor frame designation
1.5 Rated mechanical output of 1.5 kW
3000 Rated speed of 3000 rpm

Motors with the same power rating may have different torque outputs and frame configurations at different rated speeds. Specify the complete model designation and confirm the relevant dimensional drawing when ordering.

Typical Applications

  • Pumps and water systems: Variable-speed pump drives selected to match the required flow, pressure and pump operating curve.
  • Fans and ventilation equipment: Adjustable-speed operation where airflow requirements change with the process or ventilation demand.
  • Compressors and industrial machinery: Motor selection based on starting requirements, load torque and the required operating-speed range.
  • Motor-system efficiency upgrades: Replacement projects assessed against the existing load, operating hours and control strategy.

Drive Compatibility and Installation

The VFD must support permanent magnet synchronous motor control. Selection and commissioning should account for motor rated current, rated speed, pole count and the electrical parameters required by the drive. An existing induction-motor drive should not be assumed compatible without checking its control functions and output capacity.

Continuous low-speed loading, frequent starts and high starting-torque requirements require coordinated assessment of the motor, cooling arrangement and drive. TYCP motors should not be treated as direct-on-line induction motors.

Energy-Efficiency Retrofit Assessment

Motor efficiency and total system energy savings are different measures. Actual savings depend on the existing motor, load profile, operating hours, speed-control strategy and driven equipment. A fixed savings percentage cannot be determined from the motor type alone.

For retrofit enquiries, provide the existing motor nameplate, measured operating current or power, annual operating hours, process requirements and current control method. These details support a practical assessment of motor sizing and drive selection.

Selection and Ordering

Please specify the application, required power or torque, rated speed, operating-speed range, available electrical supply, mounting arrangement and site conditions. For replacement installations, include the existing motor nameplate, dimensional drawing and photographs of the mechanical connection.

Shangli can assist with motor selection, mechanical interface review and drive-matching requirements, and provide technical data and installation dimensions for the selected configuration.
