Product Overview
The Shangli YPT3 series is a range of three-phase induction motors designed for operation with a variable-frequency drive (VFD). An insulation system developed for inverter supply and IC416 independent forced ventilation support industrial applications requiring adjustable motor speed.
The standard catalog rated point is 380 V at 50 Hz. Constant-torque operation is specified from 5 to 50 Hz, with a constant-power operating region above the base frequency. The upper frequency limit depends on the selected model and pole count.
IP55 enclosure protection and mounting arrangements described in the catalog as conforming to IEC and DIN standards support integration into industrial machinery. Alternative rated-point voltages and frequencies can be reviewed against the application requirements.
Key Features
Designed for inverter supply: an insulation system intended for operation with a variable-frequency drive.
Constant-torque speed control: a catalog operating range of 5–50 Hz, subject to the specified drive, cooling and load conditions.
Above-base-speed operation: a model-dependent constant-power region above 50 Hz.
IC416 independent cooling: a separately powered cooling fan provides ventilation independently of the main motor shaft speed.
IP55 protection: the enclosure protection rating specified for the series.
Multiple pole counts and outputs: 2-, 4-, 6- and 8-pole models for different drive requirements.
Application-specific rated points: alternative voltage and frequency requirements can be assessed during selection.

Understanding the Operating Range
Constant Torque: 5–50 Hz
In the constant-torque region, the motor-drive system is intended to maintain the specified torque capability as speed changes. Mechanical output power decreases as speed decreases; constant torque does not mean constant rated power at low speed.
Constant Power: Above 50 Hz
In the constant-power region, available torque decreases as speed increases. The motor, VFD and driven equipment must all be suitable for the requested operating speed. Do not assume that every YPT3 model can operate at 100 Hz.
Provide the required minimum and maximum speeds, load torque, acceleration time and operating cycle during selection. Operation below 5 Hz, sustained zero-speed torque or operation beyond the listed frequency range requires separate technical assessment.
Independent Cooling for Variable-Speed Operation
Unlike a shaft-driven cooling fan whose speed changes with the motor, the YPT3's IC416 arrangement uses a separately powered fan. This supports cooling when the main motor operates at reduced speed.
The cooling fan requires the correct electrical supply and adequate airflow. Confirm the fan voltage, frequency, airflow direction and control requirements for the supplied motor assembly.
Application Examples
YPT3 motors can be considered for machinery requiring adjustable speed, provided the selected motor and VFD match the load and operating cycle.
Conveyors and material-handling equipment: adjustable process speeds within the confirmed torque range.
Mixers and processing machinery: speed adjustment to suit different process requirements.
Extrusion and production-line equipment: controlled motor speed matched to the manufacturing process.
Fans and pumps: speed control to match airflow or flow demand, subject to system and load assessment.
Energy savings depend on the driven system and operating profile. A variable-speed motor does not guarantee a fixed energy-saving percentage or establish an IE efficiency class.
The standard YPT3 series is not an explosion-protected motor. Hazardous gas or combustible dust environments require a suitably approved motor and drive arrangement.
Model Designation
The catalog illustrates the model designation YPT3-200L-4.
| Code | Meaning |
|---|---|
| YPT3 | Variable-frequency three-phase induction motor series |

| L | Long-frame designation |
| 4 | Four-pole motor |
Mounting and Overall Dimensions

The supplied dimensional drawings illustrate IM B3 foot-mounted, IM B5 flange-mounted and IM B35 combined foot-and-flange arrangements. Availability depends on the frame and selected motor configuration.
For equipment integration, check shaft height, shaft extension, key dimensions, foot-hole spacing, flange dimensions, terminal box position and overall length. Allow sufficient space for the independent cooling assembly and its airflow.
Request a model-specific drawing before finalizing the equipment layout or confirming a replacement.
