Product Overview

The Shangli Y series is a high-voltage three-phase induction motor range for industrial drive applications. It is used to drive equipment such as fans, compressors, pumps, cutting machinery and material-handling systems.

The Y series is the base ventilated design within Shangli's Y, YKS and YKK high-voltage motor family. Y-series configurations listed in the catalog include an open, self-ventilated IC01 arrangement with IP23 protection and a duct-ventilated IC11 arrangement with IP44 protection.

The motor uses horizontal foot mounting, designated IM B3, with Class F insulation and temperature rise assessed against Class B limits. Rolling-element or sleeve bearings are selected according to the motor configuration and application requirements.

Key Features

  • High-voltage industrial drive: catalog voltage options of 3 kV, 6 kV and 10 kV at 50 Hz.
  • Two ventilation configurations: IC01 open ventilation or IC11 duct ventilation, selected to suit the installation.
  • Class F insulation with Class B temperature rise: insulation and thermal-rise specifications stated in the catalog.
  • Horizontal foot-mounted construction: IM B3 mounting for integration with industrial machinery.
  • Bearing selection: rolling-element or sleeve-bearing arrangements, depending on the selected design.
  • Project-specific engineering: non-standard requirements can be reviewed against the driven equipment and site conditions.

The output, frame and pole ranges above are published in the combined Y/YKS/YKK catalog overview. They do not establish that every combination is available in the Y series. Final ratings and construction must be confirmed in the model-specific datasheet and technical agreement.

Cooling and Enclosure Options

IC01 Open Ventilation — IP23

The IC01 configuration is an open, self-ventilated design with a shaft-mounted fan. Cooling air passes through the motor, making the condition and availability of the ventilation air important selection factors.

Provide details of airborne dust, moisture, corrosive contaminants and the installation environment before selecting an open-ventilated motor.

IC11 Duct Ventilation — IP44

The catalog also lists an IC11 duct-ventilated Y-series configuration with IP44 protection. The ventilation ducting forms part of the installation and must be coordinated with the motor's cooling requirements.

Confirm the duct arrangement, air supply conditions, required airflow and permissible pressure losses during technical clarification.

IC01/IP23 and IC11/IP44 are separate configurations, not interchangeable labels. Specify the required arrangement when requesting a quotation.

Typical Applications

Y-series motors can be selected for industrial equipment where the electrical supply, load characteristics and ventilation conditions match the motor specification.

  • Industrial fans: ventilation and process-air systems.
  • Compressors: drives requiring assessment of starting torque, load inertia and the operating cycle.
  • Water pumps: industrial water transfer, circulation and pumping systems.
  • Cutting and processing machinery: equipment requiring a high-voltage three-phase drive.
  • Material-handling machinery: mechanical transport systems with suitable drive requirements.

Application sectors include power generation, steelmaking, machinery manufacturing, mineral processing and petrochemical facilities. Use in these industries does not imply suitability for hazardous areas. The standard Y series is not an explosion-protected motor.

Insulation and Bearing Configuration

The catalog specifies Class F insulation with temperature rise assessed against Class B limits. These describe different aspects of the motor's thermal design and should not be treated as interchangeable ratings.

Rolling-element or sleeve bearings are provided according to the selected motor design. Bearing selection should account for shaft speed, load, coupling arrangement, lubrication requirements and maintenance conditions.

Confirm the bearing arrangement and any associated lubrication-system requirements in the project documentation before finalizing the installation.

Installation and Replacement Considerations

The standard mounting arrangement described in the catalog is IM B3: a horizontal motor with mounting feet. Request the exact dimensional drawing before designing the foundation or confirming a replacement.

  • Check shaft centre height and foundation bolt positions.
  • Confirm shaft extension, key dimensions and coupling interface.
  • Allow clearance for the terminal box and high-voltage cables.
  • Provide the required ventilation and maintenance access.
  • Confirm the driven equipment's radial and axial loading.

For replacement projects, rated power and voltage alone are not sufficient. Starting performance, speed, cooling arrangement and mechanical dimensions must also be reviewed.

Starting and Drive-System Requirements

Motor selection should consider the load torque-speed curve, driven-equipment inertia, starting method, available supply capacity and permissible voltage drop. Provide the required starting frequency and acceleration time for technical assessment.

If variable-frequency operation is required, request a separately confirmed motor-drive specification. The standard 50 Hz catalog description does not establish an unrestricted variable-speed operating range.

Information Required for a Quotation

Send the following details to our Huzhou team for Y-series selection and quotation:

  • Required rated output in kW.
  • Supply voltage, frequency and required speed or pole count.
  • Driven equipment and load torque-speed characteristics.
  • Load inertia, starting method and required starting cycle.
  • Cooling arrangement: IC01/IP23 or IC11/IP44.
  • Ambient temperature, altitude and ventilation-air conditions.
  • Mounting dimensions, coupling details and bearing requirements.
  • Required standards, tests and technical documentation.
  • Quantity, destination country and delivery requirements.

For special configurations, the agreed technical specification should define the electrical ratings, cooling system, mechanical interfaces and acceptance requirements. For replacement enquiries, include the existing motor's nameplate, dimensional drawing and operating information.
