Product Overview
The Shangli YBBP series is a flameproof three-phase induction motor developed for variable-speed industrial applications. Operating with a compatible variable frequency drive (VFD), it provides smooth, stepless speed adjustment within the specified operating range.
Based on the YB3 motor platform, the YBBP series combines flameproof construction with an independently driven axial cooling fan. This arrangement provides cooling without relying on the speed of the main motor shaft, supporting operation at reduced speeds.
The catalog covers outputs from 0.18 to 315 kW across 2-, 4-, 6-, 8- and 10-pole configurations. Available power ratings, operating frequencies and explosion-protection markings depend on the selected model.
Key Features
Variable-speed operation: Designed for use with a compatible VFD to match motor speed to equipment and process requirements.
Independent forced-air cooling: A separately driven axial fan provides cooling across the specified operating speed range.
Constant-torque and constant-power operation: Supports different operating regions below and above the 50 Hz base frequency, subject to model-specific limits.
Flameproof configurations: The catalog lists separate configurations for mining and industrial explosive-gas environments. Selection must match the application and applicable certification.
Multiple power and pole options: A broad model range supports different equipment output and speed requirements.
Process control: Variable-speed operation enables motor output to follow process demand. Potential energy savings depend on the driven equipment, load profile and control strategy.

Operating Frequency and VFD Selection
The YBBP series provides constant-torque operation over the specified low-frequency range and constant-power operation above the base frequency. The upper frequency limit is model-dependent: not every YBBP motor is rated for operation at 100 Hz.
Before selecting a motor and drive, confirm the required minimum and maximum speeds, load torque, duty cycle, supply voltage and VFD specifications. The motor, cooling fan and protection arrangements must be suitable for the intended operating conditions.
Explosion-Protection Configurations
The catalog lists the following explosion-protection markings for different YBBP configurations. These are separate configuration options, not combined approvals for every motor in the series.

Ex d IIA T4 Gb
Ex d IIB T4 Gb
Ex d IIC T4 Gb
Provide your hazardous-area classification, gas group, temperature-class requirement, ambient conditions and destination-market certification requirements with your enquiry. Suitability must be checked against the selected motor's current certificate and nameplate.
Application Considerations
YBBP motors are intended for industrial drive systems requiring both variable-speed control and flameproof protection, including equipment in petroleum and chemical processing environments. Mining applications require the appropriate mining-specific configuration and approvals.
Motor selection should consider the driven equipment, starting and running torque, speed range and site conditions, rather than the industry name alone.
