Product Overview
The Shangli YBX3 series is a basic range of high-efficiency flameproof three-phase induction motors for hazardous-area drive applications. It combines flameproof construction with IC411 self-fan cooling, Class F insulation and S1 continuous-duty operation.
Catalog outputs range from 0.37 to 315 kW across selected 2-, 4-, 6-, 8- and 10-pole models. Separate protection configurations are listed for industrial IIA/IIB gas atmospheres and mining applications.
The range also includes environmental variants for outdoor, tropical and moderately corrosive conditions. Motor selection should match the electrical supply, driven load, installation environment and applicable hazardous-area requirements.
Key Features
- Flameproof construction: Separate catalog configurations address industrial explosive-gas environments and mining applications.
- IC411 cooling: A shaft-driven external fan provides self-ventilation for the motor enclosure.
- Class F insulation: The catalog specifies thermal class 155 for the motor insulation system.
- VPI-treated stator windings: Vacuum pressure impregnation supports winding insulation integrity, mechanical strength and resistance to moisture.
- Dynamically balanced rotor: The cast-aluminium rotor is dynamically balanced to support smooth operation.
- Low-loss electrical steel: Stator and rotor laminations use electrical steel selected for high magnetic permeability and low losses.
- Environmental variants: Outdoor, humid-tropical, dry-tropical and corrosion-resistant versions support different installation requirements.

The published performance tables use 380 V for rated-current data. Do not apply those current values directly to another voltage. Confirm the electrical data, connection arrangement and protection requirements for the motor being ordered.
Power Range by Pole Configuration
| Poles | Catalog Output Range | Synchronous Speed at 50 Hz |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | 0.75–315 kW | 3,000 rpm |
| 4 | 0.55–315 kW | 1,500 rpm |
| 6 | 0.37–250 kW | 1,000 rpm |
| 8 | 1.1–200 kW | 750 rpm |
| 10 | 45–185 kW | 600 rpm |
These are series-level catalog ranges, not confirmation that every output is available with every voltage, protection marking or environmental variant. Actual rated shaft speed is lower than synchronous speed and depends on the individual model.
Explosion-Protection Configurations
The source catalog lists the following separate flameproof configurations:
| Catalog Marking | Application Direction |
|---|---|
| Ex d IIA T4 Gb | Industrial explosive-gas atmospheres requiring the corresponding IIA configuration |
| Ex d IIB T4 Gb | Industrial explosive-gas atmospheres requiring the corresponding IIB configuration |
| Ex d I Mb | Mining configuration described for non-working-face equipment in coal-mine methane environments, subject to the applicable mining approvals |
These markings describe different configurations and should not be presented as combined approvals for every YBX3 motor. The exact current certificate and nameplate determine the protection marking and conditions of use for the supplied unit.
The source catalog references GB 3836.1-2010 and GB 3836.2-2010. For procurement, request the standards and certification documents applicable to the current product configuration.
If your project requires IIC gas protection, request the dedicated YBX3 IIC version. Do not substitute an IIA or IIB motor for an IIC requirement. Gas-protection markings also do not establish combustible-dust approval.
Environmental Variants
| Designation | Catalog Application |
|---|---|
| YBX3 | Basic indoor version |
| YBX3-W | Outdoor version |
| YBX3-TH | Indoor humid-tropical version |
| YBX3-WTH | Outdoor humid-tropical version |
| YBX3-TA | Indoor dry-tropical version |
| YBX3-WTA | Outdoor dry-tropical version |
| YBX3-T | Indoor tropical version |
| YBX3-WT | Outdoor tropical version |
| YBX3-WF1 | Outdoor version for moderately corrosive environments |
Provide the actual ambient temperature, humidity, weather exposure and corrosive substances when selecting a variant. Environmental suffixes do not replace the required explosion-protection marking or certificate.
Construction and Maintenance Features
The catalog describes copper stator windings treated by vacuum pressure impregnation, a dynamically balanced cast-aluminium rotor, and a cylindrical shaft extension for the intended drive arrangement.
Bearing arrangements vary with frame size. The catalog lists double-sealed bearings for frame sizes 132 and below, and bearing lubrication provisions for frame sizes 160 and above. For frame sizes 250 and above, positions are reserved for bearing-temperature monitoring sensors.
A reserved sensor position does not mean a sensor is included. Specify any temperature-monitoring requirement with your enquiry. Lubrication and maintenance must follow the instructions for the supplied motor and the site's hazardous-area procedures.
Efficiency and Mechanical Integration
The Chinese catalog description states Grade 2 efficiency under GB 18613-2012 and identifies alignment with IE3 under IEC 60034-30. Confirm the applicable efficiency class and measured performance for the selected motor, particularly where a project specifies a different standard edition or destination-market requirement.
The catalog describes IEC-aligned power ratings and mounting dimensions, with corresponding relationships to DIN 42673. For equipment integration or replacement, compare the actual shaft, foot or flange dimensions, terminal-box position and installation clearances against the approved motor drawing.
For inverter operation, frequent starting or operating conditions outside the catalog limits, request a specific technical assessment rather than assuming suitability from the YBX3 designation alone.
