Product Overview
The Shangli YBX4 series is a high-efficiency, squirrel-cage three-phase induction motor developed for industrial explosive-gas environments. Its totally enclosed, fan-cooled construction combines flameproof protection with IC411 cooling, IP55 enclosure protection and Class F insulation.
The catalog specifies Grade 2 energy efficiency under GB 18613-2020. The series covers frame sizes 80 to 355 and outputs from 0.18 to 315 kW, depending on the selected pole configuration and model.
YBX4 motors are intended for continuous-duty equipment in industries such as petroleum, chemical processing, metallurgy and power generation. IIB and IIC flameproof configurations, different voltage ratings, and environmental variants allow selection to match the application's electrical and site requirements.
Key Features
- High-efficiency design: The catalog specifies Grade 2 efficiency under GB 18613-2020, with performance data provided for individual models.
- Flameproof configurations: The series lists Ex d IIB T4 Gb and Ex d IIC T4 Gb versions. The required configuration must be specified when ordering.
- Totally enclosed, fan-cooled construction: IC411 cooling uses a shaft-driven external fan to remove heat from the motor enclosure.
- Continuous-duty operation: S1 duty is specified for applications requiring continuous operation at the rated conditions.
- IP55 protection and Class F insulation: Defined enclosure and insulation specifications support clear equipment-selection requirements.
- Electrical configuration options: The catalog lists 380 V, 400 V, 660 V and 690 V options, including selected dual-voltage ratings, with 50 Hz or 60 Hz versions.
- Installation and environmental options: IM B3 foot mounting is the basic arrangement. Other mounting arrangements and outdoor, tropical or corrosion-resistant versions can be reviewed for the application.

Specifications describe the series range. Not every combination of output, voltage, frequency, mounting arrangement and protection marking is necessarily available. Confirm the final selection against the quoted datasheet, nameplate and applicable certificate.
Power Range by Pole Configuration
| Poles | Catalog Output Range | Synchronous Speed at 50 Hz |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | 0.75–315 kW | 3,000 rpm |
| 4 | 0.55–315 kW | 1,500 rpm |
| 6 | 0.37–250 kW | 1,000 rpm |
| 8 | 0.18–200 kW | 750 rpm |
| 10 | 45–160 kW; 185 kW is also listed as a non-preferred specification | 600 rpm |
The catalog marks certain model and output combinations in parentheses as non-preferred specifications. Confirm these combinations before ordering. Actual rated shaft speed is lower than synchronous speed and varies by model.
Voltage, Frequency and Connection
The catalog lists single-voltage and dual-voltage configurations for different electrical supplies. Specify the operating voltage and frequency together when requesting a quotation.
For the basic 380 V series, the catalog specifies star (Y) connection for outputs up to and including 3 kW, and delta (Δ) connection above 3 kW. Always follow the supplied motor's nameplate and terminal connection diagram.
A 50 Hz option and a 60 Hz option do not automatically mean that each motor is dual-frequency rated. The published performance tables use 380 V current data and 50 Hz synchronous-speed groups; request the corresponding data for a different supply.
Special voltage requirements can be submitted for technical review.
Flameproof Protection
The YBX4 catalog lists two gas-protection configurations: Ex d IIB T4 Gb and Ex d IIC T4 Gb. These are alternative configurations, not combined approvals for every motor.
Specify the required gas group, temperature class, equipment protection level and hazardous-area classification with your enquiry. The current certificate and nameplate determine the approved marking and conditions of use.
Do not treat an IIB configuration as a substitute for an IIC requirement. Likewise, a gas-protection marking does not establish combustible-dust approval or underground coal-mining approval.
Where ATEX, IECEx or another destination-market approval is required, identify that requirement before quotation so that the relevant documentation can be checked.
Environmental Options
| Code | Catalog Description |
|---|---|
| Standard | Indoor installation |
| W | Outdoor version |
| WF1 | Outdoor version for moderately corrosive environments |
| WF2 | Outdoor version for strongly corrosive environments |
| F1 | Indoor version for moderately corrosive environments |
| F2 | Indoor version for strongly corrosive environments |
| TH | Humid-tropical version |
| TA | Dry-tropical version |
| THW | Outdoor humid-tropical version |
| TAW | Outdoor dry-tropical version |
Describe the actual temperature, humidity, weather exposure and corrosive substances when selecting an environmental option. These codes do not imply resistance to every chemical or operating condition.
Model Designation Example
The catalog illustrates the designation YBX4-315L1-2-W:
- YBX4: motor series designation
- 315: shaft centre height of 315 mm
- L: frame-length code
- 1: core-length code
- 2: two-pole configuration
- W: outdoor environmental version
The model designation alone does not identify the complete electrical rating or explosion-protection approval. Check it together with the nameplate and technical datasheet.
Efficiency and Technical Documentation
The YBX4 catalog specifies Grade 2 energy efficiency under GB 18613-2020. For project approval or equipment comparison, request the rated efficiency and supporting documentation for the selected output, pole configuration, voltage and frequency.
If your project specifies an IEC efficiency class, include the required class and standard in the enquiry. An efficiency requirement should not be inferred solely from the numeral in the series name.
The catalog references standards covering motor ratings and performance, induction-motor testing, cooling, enclosure protection, mechanical vibration, noise, energy efficiency and flameproof construction. Applicable editions should be confirmed in the documentation for the supplied motor.
Applications and Selection
The catalog identifies petroleum, chemical processing, mining, metallurgy and power generation as application sectors. Suitability depends on the actual location and driven equipment, not the industry name alone.
Review the load torque, starting requirements, duty, mounting dimensions and site conditions alongside the required explosion-protection configuration. For inverter operation, frequent starting or unusual ambient conditions, request a specific technical review.
